Mango Scrub Strategy
"It all starts with the Mango Scrub," a Canyon Ranch representative revealed at a recent lecture. No one checks into this health resort gleefully anticipating caffeine withdrawals and endless workouts; they come because they are lured by the promise of relaxation that treatments like Mango Scrub suggest.
"Of course we can't make anyone live a more healthful life, and nothing could be less like boot camp than a stay with us," writes Mel Zuckerman, Canyon Ranch Founder. "But we do our level best to seduce you with the beauty of vibrant health." *
And so, with the promise of pampering, clients are ushered into making the changes required to create a healthy lifestyle.
In my coaching practice, I often challenge clients to make changes and take risks that require a committed effort. But when I give a presentation to a new audience, my focus isn't on daunting hurdles. Instead, I offer a glimpse of an entrepreneurial dream that they can make real. As part of my keynote address: "If I Can Make a Business Out of This, You Can Make a Business Out of Anything," I use humorous anecdotes from my own experience to lighten up the challenges of becoming a sole proprietor. In effect, I smooth the path to opportunity and inspire prospective clients to take the next step to developing their own small business.
Many of my Mastermind group members have also adopted the Mango Scrub strategy to grow their customer base. A marketing consultant, for example, will use evocative catch-phrases that demonstrate to her potential clients her grasp of their brand. By offering an inspired sampling of her take on their business, she provides a tantalizing peek at the transformation that her marketing strategy will bring.
Whether you're asking your clients to adopt a healthy lifestyle, face the challenges of personal and professional growth, or repackage their brand image, your goal is to motivate. The Mango Scrub that you offer your clients can sweeten that initial leap toward change, and once the momentum is there, the real progress can begin.
